I have a treehouse that is 8' square with a tree growing up through the middle. I can hang even in this short space using the spreader pole suspended from the side structure.
The treehouse sits some 12' up and with practically no bugs and a nice breeze it makes for a nice way to spend some time.

The spreader pole hangs from the framing of the treehouse using a simple Larkshead around a 2x6 and holds the pole in the loop.
Behind it is a prussik loop with a trailing line that then feeds through the hammock's double descender ring suspension.
Works great. Had my son time me in setting it up. 2 minutes, 28 seconds from entering the treehouse to ready to hang. Simple and fast and, since there are no knots to tie, easy and repeatable.
