That trip report was nice to read.

The Sawtooths are beautiful mountains of course but on Labor Day weekend when I was near there on vacation Sept 2006, all the trailheads I checked out were crowded or overflowing. Someone was using a Hennessy in a campground closest to Stanley.

Check out the Boulder/White Cloud mountains and the Pioneer Mountains sometime. Scenery is almost as grand, very wild but with nowhere the crowds.

Thanks for the nice coments guys. Yah on weekends, exspecialy holidays it can be bussy at some of the realy popular trails. But I have also been up there and been the first one to sighn a trail register for the summer in august. Some trails are deffinatly bussyer than others. It just realy depends on the day and the spot. We scoped out a few other trail heads while we were up there. Wile the trail we took was fairly bussy with day hikers my second choice only had one car parked at the TH.

I'll try but no prommises, those guys are a bit fast for my little Point and Shoot camera. If I was planning to take my full SLR rig no problem, but adding 40 pounds of camera gear to my 15 pound base dose not sound like fun for this trip

My burden for this trip is my food This may be my one serious trip for the year and I want to hang in my hammock, eat some good food and watch the clouds float by. I have just been sorting out my food bags and measuring the trail sections in mapsource. 6-8 miles a day and thousands of feet elevation change every day. WOOO BUDDDY!
