In preparation for an upcoming trip, I was looking into cheaper, more usable options for shelter. I was always a tent sleeper as a child and never liked sleeping on the ground--or in that horrid tent trailer my parents got later on. The only thing I like sleeping in was my truck that had a completely tricked out bed with a camper cover and a bed/seat convertible box design with cubby holes.
So, in prep for a 1-3 month journey overseas, I followed a trail of breadcrumbs from tent to hammock, and nearly all of my research led me to these forums. And by GOD, there's so much info here. I can't thank everyone who's contributed enough. Especially the DIY section.
Now I'm waiting for a sewing machine to come in the mail, arrange all my cloth and accessory orders and get to work. On what? Hammock, tarp, bug net, backpack, top quilt, under quilt, all the lines and rigging, and all in a backpackable package that won't kill me.
Thanks for reading!
