A while back I found an old external frame pack at a thrift store. I gave it a complete overhaul, took it apart, and put it back together again as a lightweight version of its former self. See my posting here for full details: Rebirth of an External Frame Backpack
I’ve used it a little but realize it’s a bit short for my torso. I have a 19-20” torso length and think it would be better suited for a 15-18” torso. It’s a basic design with a large bag and a stretchy outer pocket made of the same materials that are used on Granite Gear packs for the pocket—a stretch lycra material. Very strong and durable.
This is a fun pack to have and maybe a good one for younger backpackers just starting out. I’m guesstimating about 40+ liters for volume. In my opinion, it holds 25-30 pounds quite comfortably.
You may notice duct tape on the frame—that is NOT structural and is not there because of a problem. I always take a little duct tape with me and that was a good way to carry it. The frame is in fantastic shape.
Why the low price? I just want to recoup a little of the money I spent on refurbishing the pack. If no one picks this up, I’ll probably donate it to a local Boy Scout troop or to a friend.
I will also entertain trades.
