    Best hammock for a noob..

    Information overload!!

What a great forum you all have here, but the more I read, the more confused I become.....

I am 6'1" 265 pounds and very new to the hanging life. I ride my motorcycle on all of my vacations and am tired of hauling a tent around, I want something better! I want a hammock.

I am the type of guy who usually just jumps right into something new (hence my 6 tents), but am trying to reform. I do not want to go through 5 different hammocks as I learn this stuff for myself, So I am asking for your help.

I do not want the absolute end-all and best hammock, I just want something that I can live with 30 nights a year and not be left wanting something better.

    What say you? :ear

do you want a mosquito net?
if not, the Claytor no net or Jungle is a big 'ol hammock that will work for your physique. Im smaller, so cant say much about shoulder squeeze, so others will chime in Im sure. There is mucho info here so welcome to the site and prepare to fall in love (with trees)

    Claytor Jungle Hammock

I am relatively new to all this as well, purchased a Claytor Jungle Hammock and love it. I am in it full time this summer, and I am exactly your size and very comfortable. I went through some hard rains and storms with it as well and stayed dry and cozy. It won't cost you an arm and a leg either. Check it out.

Hard to recommend just one hammock. I'd have to say the Claytor Jungle hammock due to size, cost, complete package. Very popular hammock around here. I have one on the way myself minus the tarp.

Traded with a member here. Not bought from Claytor. That is a good question though. Wonder if he will sell the hammock without the tarp.......Neo???????

I could be mistaken, it seems they are $100 w/o tarp and 150 complete.

Welcome to the forum, Bender! I took a trip on the KATY, and we had lunch in Sedalia! Got a haircut there, too!

Good luck on finding the right hammock. I don't really know what to tell you other than all the hammocks I have been in are quite comfy. If you are on a motorcycle, weight is probably less of a concern to you. So, I would suggest getting a big hammock, that has many features. That way, you are more likely to have something that doesn't leave much to be desired.

I am not sure if you saw NCPatrick's video on the Clark NX-200: http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=4729 With all the different pockets, and other compartments, etc., I would call this a feature rich hammock.
