I am looking to start an annual Winter or late fall hang, more specifically for newbies, but also for the experienced. The purpose of this hang would be to allow new winter hangers to get some experience and learn (In person) from the more experienced,(without heading straight into something like the Frozen Butt Hang in January). This would be a November-December time hang. and close to town and public roads, but far enough in that people could get a taste of Minnesota's nasty cold winter breath. I live here in Silver Bay, Minnesota and I could line up all of the details ahead of time, but in full truth, this would be my first time winter hanging. I will also post this idea to the "Midwest Backpackers" and "Midwest Hiking Enthusiasts" on FaceBook. Please comment below if you are willing to help make this happen, New or experienced with winter-Hammocking. As far as dates and time goes It will all be based on weather, optimally It would never ever get below 10F or even 20F, but it would remain under 30F, and hopefully we would have between 3" and 12" of snow. just enough that people can use polk sleds and learn more from their time, but not need snow-shoes. Ice-Fishing is not an option until late December, so we really don't need to plan on it. As far as a location goes, It could be in the same place as the FBH is, or there are several lakes around here with pines and relatively brush-free grounds. Again, please let me know if you are willing to help make this happen by commenting below!
