    Swedish hanger reporting in

    Hi there!

I´ve been lurking here this summer, but I reckon its about time I join the community

This summer I was planning on sleeping a couple of nights in my hammock, but for some reason it hasn´t happened yet. I have set it up a few times though, lounging in it...whenever my wife has been away from it. She quickly took to stealing it from me There are some plans on sleeping in it now - with hunting season coming along nicely it might be a good way to get an early start on those roe deers I´m thinking that maybe I should invest in an underblanket or something similar to avoid freezing my butt off though...

    Whoooooo Buddy and welcome.
You can use a pad and sleeping bag in the hammock until you decide if hammocks are going to be your groove. Though UQs are the most comfortable way to go.

Warm welcome from fabulous--terribly boring--Las Vegas!

Agree with Shug. You can also DIY some underquilts or make your own so the investment isn't as great. Check out the DIY section if you're interested--tons of stickies and threads on everything you need.

    Welcome from Philly.
When I was a kid the only time we were in the house was to eat and sleep.

I'm just getting into hammocking myself and have watched a zillion vidoes...mostly those of The Great Shugmeister. I have known eventually I will get an UQ and TQ and after watching this video (and not wanting to struggle with pads and bags) I will bite the bullet and purchase UQ's...the bad news is I'm getting my kids into hammocking as well...so that's UQ's X 5...what was I thinking

    Hi there.
I've been in Sweden with my hammock last April. What a beautiful country. So far I was using pads but tending to invest in under quilt. I think it is the right way of sleeping in hammock. Hate struggle with mats during the night.

    Thanks everyone!
I´ve done some experimenting with a pad now, and although it keeps slipping away from where I try to put it it still works fine insulation-wise. I´ll try it some more, and then I´ll probably cave and get myself an UQ
