Magellan air pillow... critical for keeping my neck bent at the right angle (or not bent, actually) for comfortable sleep.
My OES MacCat Standard tarp is also a luxury on a hard backpacking trip (vs the stock hennessy diamond).

My REI down filled travel pillow. Makes a good nights sleep very attainable. Never get out without it.

Hang On !!!
6 to 8 ounces of Makers Mark and/or some nice cigars.
On a short trip it's my phone. It doubles as a lightweight ereader. On a longer trip it's my phone and my pocket solar charger/backup battery. Although last time I went for seven days I think I only used a half battery on the iphone from reading.
I usually pack a small camp pillow also.
Monkeyboy, what kind of phone do you have? I'm due for an upgrade and battery life is something I put right at the top of my priorities
my favorite luxury item is a book. I read "Into the Wild" while backpacking in Alaska, definately worth it.
That, and maybe a couple beers, are actually the only true luxury "I'm bringing this because it makes me feel good" things I bring... I consider the folding saw, extra socks, S&W, and the little plastic bottle of Fireball* to be under the category of "I may not need this, but if I do, it's the only tool I have that will solve that problem"
Maybe I'll make a poop-tube or invest in that biodegradable toilet paper, but so far Ive been able to get by with just a small plastic shovel.**
*= I use methanol based stove fuel. It's highly toxic (I want to say 10ml causes blindness and 50ml is the mean lethal dose). If I have an exposure while hiking, the booze competes with the receptors and prevents methanol poisoning.
** after getting a better look at the foliage down here, TP may start finding its way into my pack...
When I was a ground dweller, a pillow, clothes stuffed in a stuffsack didn't work for me. Will I still use a pillow as a hammocker?
Like thrash metal? Check out my nephew's band, Deathwatch. He's an amazing drummer... https://soundcloud.com/user-660860695
My LUCI Solar Inflatable Lantern.
Sweet little lantern that stores flatter than a pancake and inflates to a softball size. Solar powered.. so it has never needed batteries.
I use it for cooking in the dark and for hanging on my ridgeline... and I hang it on a tree if I have to set up my tarp/hammock in the dark.
I bought it at Dutch's site (camping stuff tab).
Totally cool little extra. =)
If life gets any better.. I'll need a tranquilizer!
I like the Luci. May have to get one of those. Sweet!
