Do you know what the road conditions are to the proposed base camps? Need the higher clearance of a pickup? or is a car safe to make it without tearing the bumpers off?

Cars are fine, the roads in a 98% paved with at most a couple of miles of well maintained dirt roads. Should be able to drive just about anything from a mini copper on up into these trails.

I would still like to do the hunt thing but it is seaming like it would be prohibitive for many folks, either on cost and on timing. More folks have been interested in the hiking than the hunting when it gets right down to it so things are seeming to shift. And with the hunting regs coming out --Finally-- this week most every hunting unit does not open until at least mid October that may be to late to be able to get the hike in before the snow is waist deep in the Sawtooths.

oki doki.... if I am able to swing it, I'd still really enjoy visiting that area for a hang, hunt or no hunt!

It's a long shot, but not impossible. I'll watch this thread over the next coupe months!

well fiance can't make it as she starts her student teaching but i'll bloody well make it on my own... the 8th to the ??? (15th?) would be spectacular, that would give me about a 3 week vacation. i've got a week long deal above lake chelan the last week of august and whatever strikes my fancy for labor day, followed by the sawtooth! so just me and 4 empty seats if anyone needs a lift on my route

8th-15th works for me, that would give us a lot of time to hike and hang and maybe meander around a little to another spot or just have an long couple days at the spring. Sounds good to me

Lets set it then and say that we plan for the meet up on the 8th of September and anyone that can stay for a week is welcome to.

Nicee... Where is that pic at? Fiancee and I are planning on moving NE of Spokane next year... Wish I could make this event - but the miles look kinda far far away =)
