Sewing entrance slit with zipper mod

Would appreciate feedback from anyone who has had the entrance slit sewn closed when they did their 2qzq zipper mod. Especially interested in how/whether sewing the slit and removing velcro affected the hard pressure ridge problem (i.e. sore left leg). Also, other consequences of sewing entrance slit closed. Thanks

I would not count on sewing the slit to remove the center tension as that is present in one way or another in all gathered end hammocks. I have found two effective (for me) ways of dealing with that. 1) reduce the tension on the HH ridgeline to where it is just taut, not tight. 2) adopt as wide a diagonal lay as possible given the model of hammock you have.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

I found the same thing as Rev, then discovered that shortening my ridgeline helped even more.

I now have the ridgeline about 3-4" shorter, and hang with very little ridgeline tension.

Here is a thread about how I shortened the ridgeline without cutting it.

When I was setting up my indoor sleeper I found that a shorter ridgeline made a huge difference. That was a full DIY setup so there was no installed ridgeline to use as a starting place. Turns out _for me_ the same length as my explorer was good.

BTW, I also asked 2Q/ZQ to sew up my entrance and remove the velcro.

I provided Uppaia with several names of folks who had the velcro removed and slit sewed up. Since I haven't done it to my own, better opinions exist. The only comments I've heard center around the velcro scratch and stiffness issues which are said to be eleviated to some degree when the velcro is removed. -2Q

    Thanks everyone

Thanks everyone. I have not actually used my hammock much so I have a lot to learn and a lot of experimenting to do. I like MacEntyre's adjustable ridge line - elegantly simple. I will try adjusting ridgeline length.
2q's website observation about the possible benefit of the bottom entry in skeeter country is definitely another thing to consider.
