"double" hammocks are a misnomer. They are simply bigger than a single. There are a few people who have managed to share a hammock but IME they are a rare breed. Just one of those things. Think of it as sleeping in two twin beds. Snuggle up close. Then move to the hammock for the rest of the night.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

The Mayans don't have any trouble doubling up. I've seen them lazing around with parents and three kids in one case...mind you they're about five foot nothing. My wife and I spent extensive time sleeping in a 15 foot Mayan hammock. It's crazy wide being a woven net instead of fabric and is quite breezy without insulation. I measured it laid out at eight feet wide before stretching.

So feedback. The wife is very comfortable in it, me, not so much. If she sleeps without moving it is great, but unfortunately my wife can run a marathon in her sleep. Between the elbows and knees flying I find it difficult to rest. We both like the snuggling and falling asleep is easy after a week or two of sleepless nights, but then you settle in and it's fine...with the exception of the movements. In our Mayan we can both side sleep very comfortably until she starts moving.

We now are back to beds when sleeping together, and I sleep in my XLC three nights a week in the yard. The mayan is just away until we can get a place with enough room to hang the dang thing.

I believe it's totally possible to enjoy a beautiful sleep with two as I have experienced it. But only if you sleep without moving...or feed your spouse a few shots of tequila to induce that!

Snuggle in the bed until she goes to sleep, then move to the hammock. Or get up early and go snuggle in the bed with her as she wakes up.
Keep movin', keep believing and enjoy the journey!

I had the same situation with my wife. I have my hammock hung right next to the bed and adjusted the height until the edge of the hammock was just below the edge of the mattress. We're happy with it and I don't have a sore back in the morning.

The Hennessy explorer deluxe is 7 feet long, and holds up to 300 lbs. I don't know if it works well for two considering I'm 250 and my girlfriend doesn't weigh 50 pounds. It can definitely hold the weight, I'll testify to that.

Pitch the idea of doing side by side hammocks in the room.

My wife and I have taken naps in her huge DHDB but never have been able to sleep a full night. Plus we have two dachshunds that require our attention and insist upon sleeping between us at night.

We have tried the hammock together thing in the room, but ultimately one of us ends up getting into the bed and sleeping by themselves with the dogs :-)

When we go camping I run a 2 hammock 3 tree system and that seems to work out well.

    Good luck on your quest

I bought a Temperpedic so I could sleep next to my wife. It still cradles me and if my wife is happy, I'm happy.

Good answer Jeremy. It's a smart man that knows a happy relationship evolves when their happiness is your happiness.
