Hammock camping tarp sunny camping optimized for hot weather?

    I camp in CA.

I have been hammock camping but only for lounging, not sleeping.
I car camp because of family camping.

But when I camp we don't have much sun shade.

So are there any tarps for hammocks optimized for hot weather?
    Or sun?

I was thinking maybe regular tap with a mounting of a space blanket on top?

Mostly it is just hot and dry in CA where I am and not much rain.

But I need good shade and cool place to be since it can be 80-120 degrees with not much tree cover.

A dark color syl or PU coated hung high has always provided good shade for me.

If you want your tarp to stay waterproof and last long, you'll keep it out of the sun and damaging UV rays. I'd buy the cheapest possible tarp for shade and keep my "weatherproof" tarp out of the sun.

One of those Woot had on sale the other day would be fine for shade. When car camping we always bring one of those pop up canopies. Cheap and no trees required. Perfect to cook or eat under.

I've used a space blanket as a tarp to reflect the sun. It has kept me cool for lounging. You can pick them up cheap on amazon or REI. http://www.rei.com/product/407106/sp...eather-blanket
    I'd rather be hanging.

    we car camp to

get some %90 shade cloth it wont pack as small as nylon but will be cooler under it
does not flap in the wind at all so tight pitch does not matter and its cheap you can get custom sizes very easy
run ridge line under it eye to eye and basically let it lie on the line semi taught as not to stretch it out

we also use a large cheap kelty 16 foot offers shade but the heat is almost worse under it ? but gets you out of the sun and rain
snowpeak makes some amazing tarps also the UV coat on theres things are cooler under that than regular nylon ! but big $$ for those
have a ton of snow peak stuff top notch stuff

new to hammocks but not camping and loved the stuff for those reasons

our trailer we had was from Africa and had this huge canvas canopy that was really nice and cool but was heavy and large ? but again was part of the system was about 10-15 degrees cooler under it in the AZ heat
canvas is so much cooler but again have to be a car camper with room

Keep hiking till the sun goes down. Or if you are driving, keep driving till ....

    Anyway. this works for me.

    No sense wasting good daylight.
