Greetings,
I came across the concept of hammock camping a few months back and the idea has really intrigued me. As you can tell from where I am posting my first thread, I'm leaning toward the purchase of a Clark Hammock. Specifically, I’m looking at the NX-250 model. That choice is based upon how you enter the hammock, my weight, the ability to store some gear under the hammock, and what appears to be a quality product based solely upon the written reviews of others. My only concern is the expense ($400+). Had the cost been in the $200 range, I would have bought one many weeks ago. I've looked at the Hennessy Hammocks and they seem to be well built and cost much less, but only one model is made to hold my weight. When I called them, they guy at Hennessy almost discouraged the sale of that particular model saying that it was "not one they like to sell." It was a very odd conversation to say the least.
I thought that if I provided you all with some basic information about me and how I'll be using my hammock, you could help me make an informed decision.
I am a little over 6 foot tall and I weigh in at 315 lbs. My campsites and hunting locations are usually less than 5 miles from where I park, so carrying weight is of no real concern. Most of my camping is done in the fall from early September to late November and again in the spring from early March to late May. In other words, I avoid the jungle hot season and the below zero temps that we see here in Missouri.
I see that many of you use many different hammocks, so I'm really hoping that your input will help me in my quest to purchase my first tent hammock.
Thank you!
