WBB Dbl 1.7 & BoonDOX Stand

Greetings, I first came to this site with questions on the feasibility of hanging inside a van conversion. With a "Yes!" from several posters/threads I dug deeper. Little did I know my wife was reading up on hammocks also, though her focus was simply using them in camp (usually BLM or USF camps) off the beaten path.

Last month after her DD she picked up a nice Hennessy Expedition Asymmetrical. She set it up in camp and I quickly realized my days of having no protection from the flying pests were numbered. And while the HEA was just right for her small stature (5'2") I was unable to find a sweet spot...so I read, and read some more.

I found several posts by owners of the WBBB that were around my 5'8" frame and ordered one last month. Well it arrived today and it fits me like a glove!

So I mentioned the BoonDOX stand in the tittle... Here is the WBBB & BD stand in the rear living area of our 38' fifth wheel we full time in:

The BD stand measures 10'6" from end to end and we have setup each of our hammocks on the stand with good fit and lay. My rear is about six inches off the ground in the above setup and a nice flat lay with a CCF pad between layers. I like the stand as it is portable in a simple duffle and sets up in about two minutes since color coding the various joints. Streatched tight, any of our hammocks work; ENO SN, ENO DN, Hennessy Expedition Asymmetrical, or the War Bonnet Black Bird.

The christening camp hang will be next week somewhere in the Pacific North West...summer has finally showed up and the weather is beautiful.

    Cheers,
    Thom

I believe Wilderness Logics carries them on their website.

Interesting! This might be what I need for my snowboard trips staying at hotels! I currently have a stand that isn't too practical to transport, and also a bit too heavy. Having this in a bag, and only 22lbs is great!

Do you think it's worth the price?

Can't find how much weight the stand holds.

    I'd rather be hanging.

I'm not sure how much weight the stand can hold but my wife and I have lounged in it in an ENO DN without issue. Our butts were practically on the ground but doable.

I recently ordered one and decided to send it back. I would say a ten ft hammock is the limit for this stand and yes, I had the extension pieces. It did work with my wife's Tree to Tree ten footer but my 11' Dangerbird dragged the ground without me in it. I also thought it effected the shorter hammock as I noticed some shoulder squeeze that should not have been there. I agree with the other poster that it was about 6" off the ground with me in it which could be a problem when using an UQ. . With the extenders I noticed little or no rocking end to end as the extenders actually create a flat spot right in the middle. I also thought it was pretty stable side to side as I was able to recline in it as a chair without it collapsing. They actually warn you about doing this on their site.

I REALLY wanted to like this stand. I believe if the ends were about a foot higher it would be fine. It was easy to put together and take down. It packs up just a bit larger than your typical good size camp chair. I bought it direct from Boondox and the return was no hassle which included a free return shipping label. I talked to the owner a couple of times and found him very receptive to suggestions for improvement. If you are using a ten foot or shorter hammock you could use it as is but you would definitely need the extenders. I should also say the quality was superb.
