    Hello From Central Illinois

I'm a long time outdoorsman who is new to hanging in a hammock. I actually have a trip planned for this weekend where I'm going to hang in my hammock. We have some seasonably cool weather this weekend, with low temps into the lower 40's. I have a pretty inexpensive hammock with the skeeter beeter pro, but I have found it to be comfortable the other times I have slept in it. Going to use a pad and a sleeping bag with a Eno tarp. I hope to be warm and comfortable all night. After I purchased my hammock, I had watched many hammock hanging videos for advice. Many of them had Shug in them, and he mentioned this site several times. While waiting for the administrator's approval, I read many posts. So far, I have found this forum to be informative, and the people on it to be intelligent and helpful. Looking forward to sharing my experiences as well. Thanks again.

Welcome from Northern IL!! Hope your trip works out as planned!!

My first hang was this spring and I found out what cold was first hand.. I too use a SBP for my outdoor hanging and am using a Grand Trunk Roatan hammock indoors during the winter and will be using a table cloth hammock in the summer.

Kick around the Yellow River October hang mentioned in the midwest section.

I was looking at that, but as a high school football coach, my Octobers are pretty full. I will keep an eye out and hopefully be able to make one of the winter trips. I have done quite a bit of winter camping, but never in a hammock. Going to be a low of 42 this Saturday night, so we will see if my gear is up to the task.
