Perhaps the scout masters can opine.
I was wondering whether some scout troops could offer their services to install hammock posts at state park campgrounds. I saw the bit about an unofficial hammocking "badge" but it would probably have to be an official event.

It sounds like a great idea to me, so long as the land managers are on board with it. I also agree that it would probably make a good eagle project.

Scouting project Eagle or not can be anything, as long as project get approved (safety, benefit land owner..) , but the "officialness" not much relate to hammock, as hammock tent don't even got mentioned at Scout handbook.
I recently saw that Derek Hansen wrote an article for Scouting Magazine about ten reasons you should hammock camp. That should get people curious.
