I've stayed at Smokemont campground several times. Most every site has trees for hanging. Here's a list of other camp sites that should be hammock friendly as well. Enjoy your trip and don't forget the trip report.
Everyone ought to believe in something....I believe I'll go set up the hammock!
I have stayed at Elkmont several times and absolutly love it,
"As part of your equipment have something to dig with, and when you relieve yourself, dig a hole and cover up your excrement. For the Lord your God moves about in your camp..." Deuteronomy 23: 13,14
Blueridge Motorcycle Campground lets hammocks hang. It's in Curuso NC 6 mi off the Blueridge & close to Maggie Valley. Motorcycles only. Phil & Leslie are excellent host & cook on weekends. My wife & I spend a week there each summer & going back for 4 days late October this year.
Elkmont is very central and allow hammocks. If you go there you want to be on the loop to the left after you go over the bridge. Those sites have a lot of trees and are spaced out and less traffic.
