    Beat The Heat

So this is a short trip i did about a month ago. We we're getting some very hot weather for around here so i took off up the Little Slocan to a favorite spot on the river. Its an area called the pots as the river has carved out the rock over thousands of yrs to form these rock pools , tanks and long curvy channels, some of them big enough to get in.

Camp up in the trees. There's no flat ground here at all so the hammock shines.

This is my favorite spot, the pool at about 1 o'clock from centre in front of the orange shaded rock face. Its bigger than it looks.

Yours truly in the pool in front of the rock next to the water step. This is only doable in august after and during the hot weather as this comes directly out of the mts and is cold but refreshing as we like to say.

And this is the view from in the pool,,,,not to bad at all.

I may have posted a TR a few yrs ago about this spot,,can't remember. Anyway its good every time.

Beautiful pictures! I remember sitting down in the stream at its edge, right above Horseshoe Falls in the Savage Gulf. I thought that's where you were until I read more. Looks very similar to that. I'm sitting in about one foot of water cooling off, had not been there a minute when my cousin walks up. He says, " Hey, isn't that a copperhead right there?" I said, "Where?" He pointed up stream about ten feet. Sure enough, here comes a little copperhead about 10-12" long, riding the current along the edge. He would have either come across my back or across my lap. A bite from one that size is more potent than a large one. I'd have never made it the 4 miles back out of the gorge, and I'm not sure they could have air lifted me out as the gorge was pretty narrow right there. It would have had to have been a very long line down. And very expensive. Thank goodness for my cousin.
