OES delux or Speer Winter for BB?

Im officaially on the list for a BB and was wondering weather I would be better off with a OES delux or the Speer winter tarp. Their pretty much the same price, but what one will offer me more coverage? And how will the OES do in winter?

    As Aways Thanks muchly!

I don't own one so I cant say anything definitive but I have always been interested in the superfly that Warbonnet puts out. Just to muddy the water. I saw the speer and the superfly side-by-side one winter camp and really liked the look of the superfly better.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

    That's a tough choice!

I see you are in San Diego, how much real 'winter' use to you plan on getting? I'm a fan of the winter tarps and the Speer version is certainly a good option. But then, there is the stellar quality of the OES tarps. I've not used my Deluxe in winter conditions, but I can't imagine it is going to give the same amount of wind protection as the Speer Winter Tarp. If I was going to buy a MacCat for winter hanging I'd lean more towards an Ultra.

I think you should get both!
    Not much help, sorry.

Brian is making me this tarp only with 2 extra tieouts midway up the side to get the tarp off me...VERY resonable price.

Could'nt you just close the doors all the way if you wanted to by tieing the stakes closer together, btw that is the sweetest winter tarp i've ever seen, close tie in my mind with the superfly from warbonnet. The only thing that prevents me from getting the superfly is it aint in spinnaker yet. Superfly in spinnaker would be ridiculous, tarp to end all tarps imo-for winter that is or monsoon season.

    well, my $.02
If you need winter coverage, of the 2 choices, the Speer Wintertarp is your ticket for 1 simple reason...you can close the doors and enclose the hammock on all 4 sides
The OES deluxe and ultra are BOMBPROOF tarps, but you cannot close the ends. You only need to close ends in the winter.
Conclusion...if you NEED winter coverage, Speer is your ticket. If you don't need all 4 sides closed, OES is the choice.

PS- just to help confuse things further, Brian at OES will customize a tarp for you in the same size as the Speer if you feel like OES made tarp is the way you want to go. (like Raw's pic)

Good luck if you can find Brian at OES...I've been trying to buy a tarp and have found him to be unresponsive. Given his reputation, I suspect there must be some unusual circumstances, but, from my point of view, he seems to have fallen off the planet.
