Brian is making me this tarp only with 2 extra tieouts midway up the side to get the tarp off me...VERY resonable price.

Its a pain to wait for but worth it in the end. If you need some top-notch gear fast go with JRB gear.

X2^^^ He is busy but VERY customer service oriented. I think he would make me a tarp for my house if I asked him.

Well, I have both a Macat DLX and a Speer Winter Tarp. Some here have posted that they do just fine with a Macat and a hammock sock in the winter, of course, you'd be better served by a net free hammock in the winter, IMO.

    Why?
I've actually found the netting (integrated with the hammock) traps some of my body heat. Thermometer with additional probe has shown the 'inside' of my hammock to be at least a couple of degrees warmer than outside the hammock, but under the tarp.

I say this as I move towards using a no-net hammock these days, so understand I'm not arguing just looking for more of a reason to switch over to a no-net hammock.

No net for sure stops some of the breeze As soon as I zip the bugnet on my BB I instantly get warmer. What little breeze there is disappears.

Indeed, there were some unusual circumstances, and I'd like to do my part in restoring Brian's reputation to its full stature. I admire his hard work, his entrepenurial drive, and his dedication to quality; I'll be back on his list.

Because you can reach out and fumble with underquilts if neccesary for one thing. Losing the weight of the net offsets about half the weight of of hammock sock. Also so's you can make coffee "Shug" style.

The thought of spiders crawling on me while I sleep is enough to make me want to have a bug net no matter the time of year.
One day I'll come up with a clever sig.

I feel your pain, Cannibal. I really don't like those things.
