Well, I have both a Macat DLX and a Speer Winter Tarp. Some here have posted that they do just fine with a Macat and a hammock sock in the winter, of course, you'd be better served by a net free hammock in the winter, IMO.
Why?
I've actually found the netting (integrated with the hammock) traps some of my body heat. Thermometer with additional probe has shown the 'inside' of my hammock to be at least a couple of degrees warmer than outside the hammock, but under the tarp.
I say this as I move towards using a no-net hammock these days, so understand I'm not arguing just looking for more of a reason to switch over to a no-net hammock.
Trust nobody!
Sometimes even a Blind Hog finds an Acorn
The thought of spiders crawling on me while I sleep is enough to make me want to have a bug net no matter the time of year.
One day I'll come up with a clever sig.
I feel your pain, Cannibal. I really don't like those things.
