Tarp damage... do I risk falling through by having it tear?

I noticed this on my last trip:

this is on my WBB... I don't remember actually doing this. There have been no events where I actually scratched it , no dragging on the ground, etc.

You think I risk having it tear?

Is there a way to repair the material?

This is on the bottom of the hammock where I sit down.

    This thread is confusing.
    I'd rather be hanging.

Do you mean hammock damage, not tarp damage?

I don't think it's that significant, since it's ripstop. How long have you owned it?

Ha. Yes. Hammock damage. Mea culpa... I've had it for about 2 years.

I had much worse in my WBBB which was a result of an item left in my pocket that worked it's way out overnight.
Found it the next morning as I was cleaning out and taking down the hammock.
It had worked it's way in-between the double layers and damaged both of them.
Actually didn't notice the damage until a couple trips later. Damage was way more severe.
I reinforced it with Tear-Aid (Type A) on both sides.(Available on Amazon).
Stuff works great and have had no issues after 2 years of use.

My advice: Keep tabs on it as you move forward.
It is not likely to get worse.
If it does, use the Tear-Aid and you will be fine.

Definitely keep an eye on it, and the rest of the hammock, gathered ends and suspension for that matter.

Bushwhacker- Ripstop will not keep the material from ripping with our body weight in the hammock. It is meant to keep the material from ripping in general from pulling it, washing, handling and such that is not body weight bearing.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
