    UL Set Up Complete ...

    For the fourth time!

    Does tweaking ever end?

For instance, my polycro peak beaks aren't near big enough. And my down-sized bug net is still too big, dragging the ground -- will need to shorten it by about 6-8 inches.

Added Dutchware to make things easier to pitch and adjust, Biners at the hammock ends and Clips on the mule tape tree huggers.

That's my post office mailer food bag and kitchen in the red bandana. Notice the DIY hammock and UQ with a HG top quilt.

This has been a very rewarding experience, switching to UL. I've about recovered from my last hike and ready to go again! This is so light and thoroughly enjoyable.

That may be the puffiest UQ I've seen! Good looking setup.

How about a close up of the Mule Tape tree huggers? I would be interested in how you did them.
    Thanks

    NO! . . . . . . . (In response to your question, "Does tweaking ever end?")

Hey Mike, That's a sweet looking setup! Not trying to sound like a gram-weenie, but have you weighed it yet? Just curious...

Thanks, Funny. It was bunched up in the picture but, yes, it's nice and fluffy.

I used 7/8" mule tape graciously given to me by a forum member. It's rated at 2500 pounds and I spray painted and rubbed it down to dull the color. Lark's Headed to 7/64" Amteel that runs to Dutch Biners, secured with overhand knot and the bite jammed with a stick:

Had to! Slept out there in the light rain last night. If the wind had been blowing I'd have gotten wet. So, new polycro peak beaks with 30" of additional coverage today.

These peak beaks are a light, inexpensive, and effective way to extend weather coverage.

    Thanks, Mike!

I'll have to work that up later. Made several changes since the last weigh-in, but I think base weight will still be about 8 pounds.

Thanks. Think I'll go out there again tonight. Yes, Tyvek is a nice product. Makes good bags. Put my fire kit in one. Makes a nice ridge line organizer, too. Stake bags ...

Violent t-storm last night and the peak beaks performed wonderfully. Not a drop on me.

The UQ had moisture on the bottom this morning but the DWR of the Argon material kept the down dry.

I will, however, rig my rain gear to make an underquilt protector.

It's hard to describe how happy I am to reach this point of being substantially UL. Time for another hike!

I've considered that, genixia, but I don't like the colors of dynaglide.
