    Hummingbird Hammocks Single

I received my Hummingbird Hammocks Single hammock in the mail today. I first heard about this Colorado manufacturer through a news paper article that my parents sent me. I checked em out, and liked what I saw, so I ordered one of their hammocks for my coming camping season. These are simple, ultra lightweight hammocks made using technology from the parachute industry. Chris Loidolt is a parachuter who started the kickstarter campaign that evolved into his company. The material is super lightweight, and super compact. Perfect for keeping your pack simple, and light weight. Here are unboxing photos. I'll have pics from the hammock setup this weekend when I do an overnight hang in the area.

I'm confused. The tag in your hand is for a different hammock (Mega Hammock) than the one you bought?

Looking forward to the write up on the experience with the hammock.

I had the same thought - maybe the straps are the 'mega' version and the hammock itself is regular size? Not sure, I haven't looked at hummingbird much except that I saw it was rather short. Curious to know if it feels that short, or feels longer than its actual length.

3 lb 2.1 oz is the mega hammock. Probably wrong tag on the hammock.

Yeah, the hammock was mis tagged. I got the single, which is a bit narrow for me. Thinking about exchanging for the single+. I'll spend a night in it this weekend and make a decision.

Uphill, how was your weekend in the Hummingbird? I have been looking at these also as a light weight option I can just keep in my pack all the time.

I think the Single would be good for just that. A lightweight lounging hammock. I made the mistake of not going for the single+, which appears to be a bit more sleeping friendly. I felt a bit cramped in the single during the night. I'm considering putting it up for sale on the forums, or holding onto it as a lounge hammock since it is so lightweight.

Per my one overnight in the hammock, the single is small. It's short from end to end, and isn't very wide. As I said before, this particular Hummingbird hammock seems like a better lounge hammock than a sleep hammock, and that is what I've used it for since my one overnight.
