Good idea. I'll try and get on it.
Anyone have directions for a proper sketch on how to?
I've got some ideas, might have to make a drawing and post it here
do that.... i have som ideas to.
Made this little sketch.
Rather unsure about the actual shape. How it's supposed to taper from the middle toward the ends and the width at the ends.
Also considering if just one cord lock will be sufficient to tighten it properly. Making it just one continuous shock cord running all the way around.

i wuld make mine a squear, and vita suspension on the ends, that closes the shape to the hammock.
Then 1/ til 2/3 of the long side, with elastic cord, in the middle, to raise it ore lover it.
If you loo at shugs videos on the 2qzq, is looks like it is made like that.
BUT NOT SHURE.
That looks like a lot of work. Leave it a rectangle and simply have a channel at the 2 ends. Use shock cord to tighten it up and to attach to the suspension of the hammock. Essentially a loose hammock that your hammock sits in.
I'm no artist but here's what I did. I took 3 yd of material, folded the corners in so I could have opening at the end of each channel. I did a 1/2" double found seam on each side for channels. Before sewing the long side channels, you need to sew your button holes in the proper spot so that it will be on the outside of your channel. For a 1/2" double fold, that would be 1" from the edge. For the end shock cord I used a continuous piece through the channel that is also the suspension. On the side pieces, they are tied around the end pieces with a loop coming out the button hole with a line lock for adjustment.
The end suspension adjusts the vertical position of the UQP, i.e. lets you control the proximity to the bottom of the quilt. The side suspension gathers the rest of the fabric up against the sides of the hammock preventing gaps. At least that's my working theory on the setup at the moment.

Oh, and you could make the end channels a little larger to leave room for another line or two of stitching if you decide to make it into a hammock in the future.
That looks easier. Will have to get my thread injector from the attic and get to it.
Another supporter for the 2QZQ uqp. Love mine and take it every time. It protects against water, keeps the wind from robbing my quilt of warmth, and is well built and super light. Doesn't cost much either.
Sometimes I use it without the quilt when its warm enough, keeps the skeeters off my backside.
