    Underquilt protector

I was looking in to getting me an UQ protector-

But the cost of it is to much for me to pay at the moment.

So, does anyone have a pattern and advice, so that i can make my own. ?

It is just kind of a saggy hammock shape hanging under a hammock. Can be lighter rip-stop. No need to gather the ends just cut to shape. May need some darting.

The one I have from 2QZQ is 106” long x 64” wide. If you have some skill with a thread injector (sewing machine) you can DIY using 4 yards of ripstop nylon or silnylon.

Add some line to a dri-ducks poncho for a multi-use undercover.

I'm going to try one using polycro. It's light, inexpensive, and when protected durable enough. It'll be gathered end, using bank line and just big enough to protect my UL UQ. If it weighs 2 ounces I'll be surprised.

I recently made one form 3 yards of 1.1oz calendared DWR ripstop. I sewed end channels and side channels with a button hole in the middle for tensioning. So far I'm pretty happy with the results.

Not happy with the gathered end result.

It weighs only 1.6 ounces for a 64x48" protector but will use the same materials for a different configuration of the suspension. Some reinforcing tape may add a tiny bit of weight. Stay tuned.

Here it is, Thunder, but I've made an improvement since the picture by running lines from each corner:
