You cant play cards in a hammock.

I just got back from a 50 mile week(ish) long canoe trip. Before the trip i disided that i would tent it rather then hammock it because i was expecting horrible weather. Im really glad I made that choice not because of the waether hwich was almost perfect but because at one of the campsites i was at the bugs were worce then i had ever seen them. opening a tent flap just wide enough and long enough to dive in and i mean dive let ten or fifteen skeeters in. We pritty much had to stay in our tents the entire time. It was alright because we played cards and had our dinners in our tents but it had me thinking. what if i had my hammock (which i don't even have bugnetting for yet) but even wiith bug netting you cant play cards in a hammock.

    Wrong!

The Clark Vertex is almost made for playing cards. Nice flat fabric between you and the other sleeper. All the advantages of a tent, but still a hammock.

One more reason why hammocks are superior to tents from my way of thinking.

Aside from the wisecracks... there is something I find interesting and I'm wondering about. Why did you choose to stay in the Carnivorous Insect Hilton? I can understand if you were camped on a small island where there was no other option. But if you had been hanging would it have been possible to relocate to a more remote area where the bugs did not congregate to the same extent. I don't think I am alone in experiencing that bug densities vary from one location to another. Just a curiosity.... camp however you want as far as I am concerned.

Could you not have a camp fire? Smoke would have helped...or rub some Ivy or oak leaves on you.... Just kidding here folks..

you would need to put out a bon fire to be bug free for five minuets. I mean the kind of bon fire with 3 couches 2 doors and so much brush that 8 mice live in it.
