that is a tough description and i think its because a torso length quilt on a man 6' 4" would be very large on a woman 5' 1".
my definition of the lengths would be closely associated with what we know as the "average" height of both sexes. 5'9" for a male, 5'4" for a female. I would consider an UQ of 42" long to be 2/3 length. I would suspect a quilt (like the te-wa or the Yeti) in the 48-52" range to be 3/4 length.

yep, I make all my quilts full length for ME !! The'd be kind-a short for most guys!! Length is relative to the person but I would guess that there could be some average lengths & XLong ones too.
I agree that torso length is a general descriptor....But, given that the average full size UQ is somewhere in the neighborhood of 76-78 inches, I'd call 48-54 inches is approx 2/3 and 54-60 inches as 3/4.... but then the real answer is just compare the specs of each manufacturer.... The Mt Washington 3 Short is 49 inches long....
