    Set of quilts for Scandinavian climate?

    Hi there.

    I have been dodging around ordering a proper full set of quilts to replace the sleeping bag and PLUQ I've been using so far. It's worked fine, but the SB is quite bulky and heavy, being synthetic, and the PLUQ don't quite cut it for autumn and winter, and the early spring.

    Living in Denmark with a very typical Scandinavian climate, meaning summer temps in the night between 10-20 and winter temps between 5 and minus 15. In Celsius by the way. Add to that some wind and generally high humidity.

    I'm pretty sure down quilts is what I want, for the reduced bulk and weight, and I'm pretty sure the humidity won't be a real issue. I mainly camp 3 seasons, but usually a winter trip or two as well, so I'd like to be able to use the same quilts ear round and just supplement with a little more clothes and a UQP for winter.

    I've been thinking about a 20 Phoenix with 1 oz overstuff and a 40 burrow with 1 oz overstuff. Looking at the temp ratings it looks okay to me, but since it's a big investment I'd like a bit of experienced eyes and advice on this

    Additional info that might, Og might not, be relevant.
    Tarp is a WB Edge, pending funds for doors.
    Hammock is a Woodsman Lite.
    I'm 175 cm tall and weigh in at about 63kg.
    I'd say I'm an average temp sleeper, neither really hot nor cold.
    Weight is important as well as reducing bulk. Trying to go light, but not ultralight.

    Cheers.

    Definitely get the 20° 3/4 quilt. I just got a 20° set from hg and I was surprised at the amount of coverage the phoenix offers and I'm 6'3" (190cm). You probably won't even need a leg pad for temps down to freezing.

    As far as top quilts, I got a 20° and I found it to be overly warm in the 4-5°C range. I had to vent it and still woke up sweaty on my last trip. It may be worth getting the 40° or even a 30° custom one and using you're sb 'till funds allow for a 20 or a 0°.

    One things for sure... that ohm 2.0 will seem cavernous when you get the new set in both of my 20° degree quilts plus hammock and uqp and suspension will fit into a 13L dry bag with plenty of room to spare.

    Thanks.

    I figured the Phoenix would make almost a full length for me I carry a small sit pad I've used from time to time if I've felt a bit cool at the feet.
    I'm usually very comfy on top, always the backside where the issues start. Guess that goes for most folks. I'm contemplating using my PLUQ to supplement in real winter, hanging outside the Phoenix, think that could work. But I'm glad to hear that a 20 Phoenix seems decent for me.

    Craige, would you be considered hot or cold sleeper? I'd prefer being a tad cool, and supplementing with a shirt, as opposed to sweating through the night.
    I'd go for a snapped foot box, for the versatility. Is it in reality possible to vent properly when it gets too hot in the TQ?

    Big thumbs up on that all fitting in a 13l dry bag. That's my SB alone right now

    @Craige.
    You did seem familiar after all
    We chatted a long time ago about the ohm 2.0 and a pack you were building yourself. Shorty ol' memory jolting back into action
    How've you been? Seem to recall a trip report you mentioned?

    I'd consider a 0 degree UQ and switching out the TQ to meet the season.

    I did consider those jobbe, but compared to the U.S. Cottage vendors, they seem a bit bulkier and heavier, and not as "advanced" sort of. Hopefully a set of quilts will last me a very long time and be versatile enough for my needs, to not warrant replacing them or buying another set. So I figured I might as well get exactly what I want the first time around.

    @genexia
    I did consider that. But realistically, most of my trips are in temps above freezing, so most of the time I would be carrying way to much quilt for the temps I'd encounter.

    That right there was my reasoning for buying from ukhammocks (german tax for me though...), plus they had a sale going on at just the right time.
    But still it was quite an investment buying the uq alone, although on sale. Seeing that I think your on the right track buying what you really want right on, instead of going for a compromise that still costs you lots.
    I for myself are pretty sure comes time and money to buy myself a tq it will origin in the US. Maybe hammock gear or enlightenment equipment...
    That's not to say I can complain about my ukhammocks uq. I downright love it. One reason it's a bit heavier than for example the temperature equivalent quilts from hammock gear is its wider.
