It can work, but extremely fragile. Once a tear starts, it zippers pretty quick. Not ideal in a rain storm. And repair tape and wet plastic arent a good match.

Ambulo tua ambulo.
No i havn't tried it iet.
But when i get it home, to Denmark, i'll make it asap ale try it.
i've been looking at youtube, there is plenty of good advice on that subject.
For curiosity sake, how will you attach your guy lines etc.? I use this (or one like it) for the actual purpose it's designed for and it is prone to tears if the edge is nicked or split. I suppose a slip knot around a round object working as a " grommet " might work. Might have to experiment
I had used the double-sided tape that came with the window kit to reinforce the edges ( which i just rolled into cat curves..... then took the corners, used a sheet bend directly onto the corners to attach shock cord, guyed them out loosely, then took a small piece of duct tape to pull the excess wrinkles to the very corner then wrapped the duct tape aound the sheet bend itself. Tightened guy lines and let it ride. We had a storm last night with about 70 to 75 mph straight line winds. All the corners and rolled edges held!
The damage I had was that the double row of double stick adhesive that I used to join the two pieces together along the ridgeline.
BTW this was 10" x 13" A-frame design guy outs at the four corners. each end of the ridgeline attached with shock cord prussics to a continuous paracord ridgeline. I kinda just threw it together after work just to test the material since I got quite a bit to play with and had never tried using polycryo before. ( didn't even know this WAS polycryo 'till I had posted this thread! )
