    Heya Dutch and Meckelangelo,

    Quick question if I may?
I have read that the Argon fabrics have a bit of stretch, what's your take on the PolyD fabrics stretch wise compared to Argon and a similar weight ripstop nylon?

    Cheers,
    Metz

I have a DIY double made from 1.6 Argon ( finished it just in time for Dutch to announce he is selling argon hammocks ). While it has some stretch, I do not consider it to be as much as some other fabrics I have used. Have not played with the PolyD yet.

My only complaint is that I wish the Argon fabric was a few inches wider.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

Hey Metz! Sorry for not responding sooner!

The PolyD is a polyester fabric, and polyester traditionally has nearly zero stretch. This property, for one, is why poly straps are suggested over nylon. This weekend at MAHHA, many people remarked at the lack of stretch, so it is noticeable, even when compared to the ARGON 1.6. I personally find it to be very comfortable. There is a bit more support. The PolyD is offered in 1.2oz and 1.4oz (per square yard) varieties. In comparison to similarly weighted nylon fabrics, the stretch difference is HUGE.

There's also more load bearing support. This weekend, we had a 265 pound fellow give a SL Breezy in the PolyD 1.2 a bounce test. Unfortunately, we do not have any load ratings for this fabric, so please use caution. My early conservative intuition would be that the 1.2 is probably good for people under 225 pounds, and the 1.4 is good for people under 300 pounds. As we obtain more information, we will update our site load suggestions for the PolyD.

Let us know if you have any other questions!

Dutch, correct me if I missed/misstated anything!

Just a quick update... As you may have seen on Friday, Dutch has 2 new colors of the PolyD 1.2. I picked up another order of fabric from him this weekend, and our site is now updated to reflect the addition of PolyD 1.2 Brick Red and Orange/Yellow. We're now carrying 17 different fabrics! Here they are...

As a reminder, if we don't have a fabric listed, we can still order it in for you. There are some exceptions, and additional charges may apply, so please email us at [email protected] to work out the details prior to ordering.

    Thanks!
