Hey all,
I just started using an UQ and im trying to find out if im hanging it correctly.
For now, im using a JRB stealth. Ill use that down to 50ish, then a JRB ORM below that. I know they are not designated as UQs by JRB, but they have the 4 corner tabs and pull tabs to cinch so I dont really see any problem using them as UQs.....do you?
I will go get some shock cord today, but for now, I just tied paracord from each corner tab to a biner and hooked up the biner to the hammock suspension right above the gathered end "bunch".
I like to lay head right, feet left.....so I loosened up the paracord on those sides and tied it tighter on the opposing sides....does that make sense?
Then I cinched it all up to eliminate drafts.
Feels pretty good. Not sure though.
Thing that doesnt really feel right to me is that the sides of the UQ are coming up higher than the hammock.
What I mean is Im testing this out with the dutch argon hammock....so no bugnet, shelves, etc.....and the hammock seems to be completely immersed in the UQ.....almost like the UQ is just another hammock just hanging from the suspension of the the primary hammock.
Is that how its supposed to be?
I can reach down and feel between the hammock and UQ and can tell im not compressing so I dont think its too tight.
Like I said, it actually feels ok, but after watching Shug video and just seeing pics of how a UQ hangs, it just looks wrong.
