ANY BIG FOOT ice fishermen out there???

For Christmas I received size 13 Sorel Glacier boots with a second pair of wool felt liners and footbeds. They are too big for me as they were ordered bigger than my 11.5 / 12 feet (so that I could use them with an extra pair of socks). My feet are loose in them anyway!

Then, in an attempt to get my pants inside the boot gaiters, I cut the top half of the wool felt liners off both sets of liners (horizontal cut above the ankle bone, and saved the top pieces). Now the pants fit inside the gaiters as they are supposed to, but my heels flop or schlupp around too much.



I wanted them for snowshoeing and even though I have good snowshoes, these boots do not fit in the snowshoe bindings at all.

AARGH !!! My wife also tossed the return papers.

I have worn these boots for one trip to the mailbox (150 feet).

They are rated to minus 100 degrees, and I do not icefish. Had this posted back in January 2014, and it was moved to "Withdrawn" in error.

Both pair are cut. The lowered liner height allows for pants to fit inside the boots. Without being cut, the pants would need to be bunched up above the liner and gaiter part of the boots. The pants would not slide over the boots in any case (unless wearing bell bottom pants). I figure that the reason for the high gaiter deign is to keep the pants inside the boots and dry. Shortening the liner creates room inside the boots for pants legs. I do not think cold shins and calves are typical.

I wore them during the 9 day deer hunting season and they worked fine. Do not think I would wear them if the temp was much above freezing.
