You can find it in most places under the guise of No Snag Velcro. Someone said that Omni Tape is the industrial/wholesale name for No Snag Velcro and Omni tape can only be bought in bulk, but they are the same thing.

Walmart carries it too...no snag velcro.

IMPOSSIBLE JUST TAKES LONGER
Yeah, but they carry it in 36" lengths. I suppose I should have clarified that I was speaking about continuous rolls of Omni.
Yeah - I've put a few lengths end-to-end to make a longer section before...not ideal, but it's what I had at the time and it worked.

the snag free lvleph gave a link to is 1" as opposed to the 3/4" stuff available in stores.
pan said the wider strips hold better, but unfortunately lvleph's source only has it in white.
I too will something make and joy in it's making
That is way cheaper!
cool teedee! that's way cheaper than what you buy in the stores.
when you sewed it, did you have as much problem w/ it grabbing the thread & causing problems like when you sew the hook side of regular velcro?
and how close in holding strength would you compare it to regular velcro?

Thanks for the link. I had contacted the Velcro company to see if I could find someone who sold it continuous lengths. It's pretty cheap to.
