    Hello from Evans, GA

My 6 yr old son joined Cub Scouts this year and loves it, so I figured I'd better find a way to enjoy camping. When I was in college I bought all of the equipment and tried my best to like tent camping but really hated sleeping on the ground. Now I'm on the downward slide to 40, and hanging in a hammock seems like a comfortable alternative.

I look forward to learning all I can about hanging from the trees...

Welcome to HF from Athens. There are two group hangs this month if you'd like to come join us for some hang time. There's the Raven Cliff hang on the 17th and the Chattooga Halloween Hang on the 31st.
Everyone ought to believe in something....I believe I'll go set up the hammock!

Welcome to the forums from SC. Hope to meet you at a group hang. Even if you don't have the equipment to hang, come on out for the afternoon and meet some of us and check out our gear. We love to talk about and show off our gear.
Keep movin', keep believing and enjoy the journey!

Welcome from another Ga. boy. As a much older guy I gave up camping, unless it was in an RV, many years ago. A friend turned me onto HF and I haven't looked back. Went on my first backpacking trip in many years last month and for the first time ever, woke up in my hammock feeling better than I did the day before. Spend some time reading the forums, watch Shug's instructional videos (his other videos are pretty good too!), maybe get a copy of the Ultimate Hang, ask questions here, and visit with other hammockers and you will be swinging in the trees and loving it.

Thank you Deadwood. Shug seems like a character that everyone would like to hang with (literally) and his videos are hilarious! A couple of days ago I purchased a HH Explorer Deluxe Asym Zip through the October deals going on right now. I just couldn't pass up the savings and I am looking at buying my son a Scout. It figure if I am going to be camping with a bunch of Cub Scouts I'd better find a way to enjoy it and hopefully my HH is the answer.
