This past weekend at the Porcupine Lake Wilderness area in northern WI went excellent. We were surprised with snow Friday evening and had a solid blanket at one point of the night (witnessed by everyone else but me because I was sound asleep, ha). I did wake up early enough to catch the flurries and gather enough snow to boil some water for some tea. The rest of the weekend stayed pretty dry with the occasional mist and some very welcomed sun mid-day Saturday. We hit a low of (29?) on Saturday night and everyone stayed pretty warm!
Gsx-rboy750 and I hiked a good way around the lake trying to find some decent spots to cast from, unfortunately they were few and far between. We ended up deciding that a spring hang portaging in with canoes would get us in with some good fishing.
To round out the crew Grizzly Outdoors and Paintballpro2 came up from Park Falls to also brave the anticipated soggy weather. They found an excellent spot for a winter hang (which if this goes down it will be awesome and I will be there).
We all had a great time talking around the campfire, eating tasty brats (thanks again JP!), and bushwhacking around the Wilderness Area.
It was great meeting you guys and I hope to hang again with you all!
And on that note here are a few iPhone pictures.
