Brilliantly simple design! Do you intend to sell the fittings you made? Cause I would like some!

Well done. I liked you repeating the comparison of the weight of the hardware rods, 4oz (100g) compared to the weight of a second tarp. Not to mention the time required to put up and take down a second tarp.
I'm gonna put guy lines on that winter palace tarp right now, certainly large enough for two hammocks hung this way.
Nice work.
Any reason both hammocks couldn't utilize a single tree strap/MSH?

Very nice Detailman, keeping it simple and light, a DIY project that would appeal to just about any hanger.

Good job, Detail Man. Add another one who would be interested in those end fittings. I could see them working on a bridge hammock as well. You've done a great job of getting the kids out in the woods with all of your mad DIY skills.
D1 and I discovered that accidently on a paddling trip once. One of our tree huggers got lost in some paddling gear in the car so we had to hang from a single strap on one end. I was a bit uneasy about it at first, but it did fine. It did seem that the other person's movement was transmitted thru the suspension more easily, however.
My typical setup involves running the tree huggers opposite directions around the tree, and positioning them just off center of the tree. This seems to dampen the effect of feeling the other person's minor movements.
For two adults, I would probably recommend using a heavier strap. You just have to do the math for the combined weight of two people X 4 for safety. 1500lb straps might work fine, but bumping up to 3000lb straps might be necessary. Then it's a question of weight savings of 4 light straps vs. 2 heavier ones.
Excellent!! I've definitely book marked. This would certainly leave the hiking poles that some use as spreaders available for other things. Do you find that it works better with two hammocks that are close to the same length?
Do you guys do winter camping, and if so, can you do a thread on how you close off the tarp ends with two hammock suspensions coming out? I'm having a hard time figuring that one out.
