if i brought my dog into a hammock i think it would break. he's a mastiff-X and weighs 35kg(77lb) and hes only 8 months old, but he would give alot of heat. its like an oversized hotwater bottle. but he does sleep in my bed at home every night.

I just slept out in the backyard with my hammock for the first time last night. My weiner dog eddie loves in. This morning when I got up and brewed some coffee, he got back in.
Beer won't solve problems, but then again, neither will milk !

Yep, welcome to HF D Shizzle. I'll bet that little dog will help keep you warm too.
I too will something make and joy in it's making
There's a pic on here of Jack M. in his hammock with a No Sniveler. His dog is poking his head thru the NS headhole! Great pic, and I had never considered using the poncho hole like that.

They make tents for dogs, but a tarp set up with a pad is prob just as good or better.

Hello,
I really don't see myself and my Belgian sheperd in the hammock. I've never camped with the hammock, next weekend I hope... But I did go camping with a tarp and a tent and than I have my dog on a Ruffwear Mt. Bachelor Pad ( http://www.ruffwear.com/Mt-Bachelor-...=2&category=17 ). Works for him.
Oh, and he carries it in his own backpack...
I think I'll just do the same when I'm off with the hammock. Underneath the hammock with my pack on the ground beside him so he's out of the draft/wind.
I also thought of this: http://www.birdland.nl/rwings.html (See picture on the lower right side) :-)
Duncan.
Haha - well, if you ever DO let him in the hammock with you, I want pics!
I've heard of folks just putting the pad on the ground underneath the hammock. If it's cold, you could get a big tarp (11x10 or so) and pitch it Baker hut style so one side is on the ground to protect him from the wind.
