I really appreciate all the encouragement and advice in my last post. I realize now that tent camping and hammock camping are worlds apart, and yet one in the same. Weight savings are going to be minimal one way or the other, and there are ways to go about getting the ounces off in either case. Same goes with monetary savings, you can go big or go small, the choice is yours. I am still of the mind that I refuse to spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars on camping gear, I'd rather DIY or McGuyver something that may not be as pretty, or slightly heavier but works just the same.
