Hey Folks
Looking to backpack in Mammoth California, near yosemite, and was wondering if any of you know what to expect tree-wise, in regards to length of suspension straps I should bring.
Thanks

Yosemite has a diverse type of trees. You can find those massive Giant Sequoias down to aspens. You can find small trees but you need to be prepared for just about anything. So longer probably 10 footers would work as in the wilderness in this area as you gain elevation your tree diameter will get smaller

I hammock camp in the Sierra regularly, was there 2 weeks ago (Kearsarge Pass and thereabouts). I just checked my straps and they are 8 feet and do me just fine. No doubt if you are at lower elevations you can find massive trees, but it has never been a problem for me.
I used my Atlas straps there a couple years ago with no issues...Lots of huge trees, but also lots of just trees in general, so no problems finding some of the appropriate size.
