I'm thinking about getting a wearable quilt from the jacks to use as a topquilt. It will also double as my only insulation for my upper half while in camp. I have been on a few trips where people dont bring a coat/jacket/sweatshirt but curl up in their quilt or wrap their sleeping bag around them as they are sitting by the fire and temps begin to drop. It seems like a good way to keep your pack weight and bulk down. Is this a popular thing to do?
What are the pro's and cons to using your bag/quilt as your coat?
