I missed it too and have the same sentiments...
Gargoyle? What do you think?
Yes, Gargoyle, Canoebie, or Questtrek,
just what if any is in the works for the future? Was there any discussion of when and where the next Michigan hang might be?
Inquiring minds would like to know.

Yep, was just thinking that us MI folks the missed the hang need to get another together sometime. Especially now that I have a bit more gear now.
Oct. second weekend, Manistee NF. ? sounds good to me.
Ambulo tua ambulo.
Second weekend in October, Manistee River Forest, North Country Trail well above the ****, that sounds good to me.
What say you....Canoebie....Questtrek?

Is that a drive in or hike in?
sounds good to me i have property a few miles from there
It sounds like a few people have property in that general area and it would make parking easier and shuttling easier (not to mention maybe a shower on Sunday if need be).
How about we start somewheres in the area of Baxter State campgrounds (or maybe Townline Trailhead just North of No. 6 Road for the young-at-heart)and go southbound on the NCT, making camp where the Manistee River intersects with the trail (which is frequent), and come out at Harvey bridge on Sunday?
People coming in on Friday could possibly start at the "Highbanks Rollway" and just walk Southbound 2-3 miles along the NCT until they meet up with the main group at the Friday nite campsite. It wouldn't take long for them to cover the distance even if they arrived about dinner time.
But one thing to most definetely keep in mind is the fact that sundown that time of the year comes earlier than now. I'll have to check on that and get back to you. But then again if you are not preverse to nite-hiking, who cares.
I would like to see us meet up on Thursday evening and head out early Friday morning, hike to "Highbanks Rollway" for brunch or lunch and then hike 2-3 miles more for the Friday night hang (that would only mean 5-6 miles total for the day if you started at Baxter State campgrounds). Saturday could be a hike from that point to let's say Andersen Creek for a Saturday nite camp (short distance 2-3 miles), and then that would leave us with just a 2-4 mile hike out on Sunday.
All of the terrain is very easy going, slightly rolling land that follows along the Northern side of the Manistee River.
Just throwing that out there, it is a long way off yet....but.....
Canoebie please sign-in
ASAP, since this is your stompin' grounds pardner?
I would say Wonderin' Fool but that handle is already taken by some clown guy.
Sooo....Best regards,

Dudes, I am gonna be paddling that weekend. Have clients that repeat that weekend each year. We will paddle past Baxter Bridge Friday take out at Harvey Bridge on Sunday. That weekend is out for me, as is the previous weekend, the weekend of the 8th is my 40th high school class reunion. Sorry, the only time I could do it would be the weekend of the 22nd.
Last year the second weekend of October we had accumulations of snow on the river.
