Good to know! I've seen similar looking foams sold as laminate floor underlayment, though it's thicker...

The plant that provides PEF for me makes a lot of pads for laminate flooring.

Thoughts: Since the IX is quilted, which makes it somewhat vapor permeable, could you needle-punch the foam to get similar results...

I have that on a list of things to ask the manufacturer. Their plant is a finishing facility, so that's the kind of thing they do.

or use a quilting machine to attach the nylon cover, essentially replicating IX without the scrim?

I have thought about that, but I want less attachment, to allow more gaps. The insulation needs to float free, inside the nylon.
