Noob here, trying to get some info.

Are they just a fomr of insulation, or do they serve another purpose? Do they replace a tarp set up?
I assume they come in many shapes and sizes to fit the many dffierent shapes and sizes of hammocks?
Do you even need one unless ou're super hardcore?
I been lurkin' and studyin'... looks like a sock is inexpensive insulation, for boostin' yer underquilt in cold weather. Nuthin' about 'em in Shug's vids...
Does anyone have pics of how a sock fits over the hammoc? I think that would help me visualzie this better.
Gentle raindrops and mighty oceans...neither can exist without the other.
Time heals all wounds...but it usually leaves a pretty big scar.
Contact MacEntrye as well, he seems to have the sock thing down.
Here is his web site http://www.mollymacpack.com/new.html
Never tried a full hammock sock myself but have tried just a dri-ducks poncho underneath the hammock which covers the whole bottom of the hammock and underquilt and that makes a very noticeable difference. I'm guessing it adds a 5 to 10 degree temp boost. I wonder if a full sock would maybe get too much condensation in cold weather?
hey i use a diy hammock sock out of a mummy bag, it is super warm b/c you are not compressing the insulation with your body weight, also if you have a thin bag liner in the hammock with you and the hammock sock around the hammock, it is substancially warmer.
