Looks like a great trip, I have GOT to get up there and do this....maybe a candidate for the next Heart of Dixie outing. I need to get my car camping buddy at work to buy a pack and put together some backpacking gear, maybe swap the 8 man Coleman tent far a nice hammock...

Great trip report----thanks! The PMT really is a great trail!
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )
Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

Enjoyed your report and picts.
I still remember all the trips I took as a scout 40 years later.
Big thanks to all the Scout Masters out there.
Thanks for the report and pics. I'm new to the area and looking for a nice place nearby for over-nighters/weekends and I will definitely add tghe PMT to my list!
Not sure if you are aware or not, but the Pine Mountain trail was hit pretty hard in the same set of tornadoes that hit Tuscaloosa and the rest of Alabama. The Pine Mountain Trail Association has been working pretty continuously since getting the trail opened back up again, and are always looking for volunteers to help out. Just thought that you might be interested. http://www.pinemountaintrail.org/
