Howdy all. I went to Colorado to see my Dad for Fathers day. My neighbor rode with me, and used my Hennessy Hammock. I was using the Black Bird. We camped in Utah at a nice aspen grove way up and outside of Cedar City Utah. I slept great after driving for hours. It was cold and drizzly (just right). Then I dropped him of to his Uncles near Grand Junction Colorado. I then drove south on Hwy 550. Most amazing drive, drive this road if you get a chance. then I met up with most of my family in Pagosa Springs, CO. We all hung out and went river rafting and had a blast for close to a week. Then My neighbor took a bus down to Durango(Lots of hot chicks in Durango!!), I picked him up and we were on our way. No plans as far as the drive just going where the wheels take us, well, West mostly. So we ended up at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. I took lots of pics, and man that is a big hole. We walked around, and checked out the cute girls working in the gift shop. Grabbed a few post cards. By this time the sun was getting low. We drove back and out of the national park, and camped in the free area not far from the main attraction. My favorite part about long distance driving is getting to find a camp spot on a whim and tossing the hammock up (and tarp if need be, didn't need it that night) and then cracking a glass of wine, or having a couple of beers. With a very small fire to cook some grub. So, I figured out one of the best ways to eat left over slices of pizza. Of course they were in the cooler staying chilled near the Beer. So I let the fire die to nothing but coals, and threw the slices of pizza right on top of the hot coals. It didn't take long, Knock the ashes off, melty cheese and campfire pepper, and they had the most amazing crunch. I highly recommend this way of warming left over pizza. No dishes to clean. It was a great hang out there near the Grand Canyon. The stars were out in full force. I woke up to a coyote howling pretty near by, it was a sweet old cowboy movie coyote howl. It sung me right back to sleep. We woke up, had cowboy coffee, and did the morning Duties. And then we B Lined it back through the Desert, and up into the Angeles National Forest were we both live. I can't wait to sleep outside again. Maybe tonight.
