First "SUCCESFULL" hike and hang. Report

As some may know my first attempt at a hike and hang ended prematurely when a buddy and I had be threatened by some locals. This time things were different.

First off we headed towards an area that was quite a bit more isolated. Our location was called Dustin Brook which is part of the Fundy Foot Path. We took a backroad by truck to about about the mid-point of the Foot Path and had a pretty short hike to our site, roughly 1 1/2 hours.

We setup camp (their tents / my hammock) and decided to check out a spot called the Eye of the Needle which is basically a canyon that narrows to about 12 feet wide. To get there we had to walk up a river, some times crossing it, other times just simply walking in it. The water was pretty cold. The scenery was awesome and photo opts were everywhere as we scrambled up boulders with miniature water falls about every 15 feet.

Once back at camp we built a fire and pretty much relaxed till it was time to bed down.

My setup for the Hammock is a HH Ultralite all stock....well kinda....I tried using some carabiners but as I tested my hammock after setup, a carabiner failed and broke. Much to the pleasure of my buddies I landed pretty hard on my posterior. So out go the carabiners and I'm back to my stock setup.

I have to admit it....it was the best night of sleep I've ever had outdoors. My buddies told me that it rained quite a bit that night..but I slept through it and more importantly, everything was dry.

The next morning we headed out into the fog in the opposite direction from the previous day and headed out towards the beach.

In a way, the fog added to the mystery of the place...It was beautiful and gives me another reason to return so I can see that coast on a sunny day.

Later we packed up and hiked back to the truck. I hope you enjoyed the report. I'm new at this so I'm not sure if all the pictures will show up ok. Thanks again to all who've offered their help and tips in the last few months.
