    But as someone else mentioned, ropes around trees can damage their bark. Straps of some sort are better.
    And then of course there's the option of wrapping a tree-hugger strap around the tree and then tying your rope to the strap ends.

    Welcome to the forum Bigtone. Don't worry about landing on your backside, that's part of the learning curve. The thing to remember is to hang low and not over any rocks or branches until you get your suspension figured out. Cheers!
