How far apart do you like your anchor points to be? Im looking at getting an HG cuben tarp with a 12' ridgeline and am just wondering how far across the achors for my hammock should be

At least 12'...
I know, smart *** answer but true. Depends on your set up, 15 to 17 feet usually works for me.

It's true....must be at least as wide or wider than your tarp....For me, it's all about getting the hammock with the best hang, the tarp kind of takes care of itself. I find I am better with 15-18 feet due to suspension set up etc.on my hammock for my best hang. Get a CSRL and it will with the tarp because you can adjust it to fit anywhere over your hammock.
12' tarps are great for the extra space, however for a hammock the length of your BB, you will find the extra length will make it a bit more challenging to get a tight to the ground pitch because of the angle of the hammock suspension. Even the 10' 10" stock HG ridgeline is right against the suspension on my BB when pitched low. I wound up going a different direction to get more space with a wider rather than longer tarp the Winter Palace. Granted it's a substantially more expensive option.
