Any day other than Feb 23-25 would be good for me! I am in as soon as everyone picks a date! The sooner the better so I can make sure I have got it off..

I don't care on the dates, but I'm interested in attending. It's been too long since I hit up a group hang, plus I'm in the middle of converting a new rookie hanger, so I'm sure he'll come along too.
I'd say sometime in January would be best. Location, I'm up for any where.
i'd like to see waterloo be the selection for this year.

I thought Ludington was a great site! I know it's a drive, but the falls in Winter must be beautiful! I don't have a date preference yet.
Bump, had to go to page 3 to find it.
Just wondering, has anyone thought of just getting into some public land in "the middle of nowhere"?
Pros: Free, tons of options, nice and secluded
Cons (at least for me): More of a car camping experience (no established trails, changing scenery, etc)
Depending on the date (hopefully wont conflict with the WI winter hang) and location I might try and make it.... Although I've said that in the past too seriously though, would love to get out to Michigan for a hang!
Has anyone considered sleeping bear dunes? Went there years ago in the summering didn't camp, but looking at the backcountry sites it could be nice... And the park is beautiful.

I'm up for a winter hang! Just nail down the dates and location and I'll see if it works.
Regarding Sleeping Bear Dunes: This past August my buddy and I along with our daughters camped at White Pine Backcountry Campground. It's a easy 15-20 minute hike from the car and once your there, it's a quick walk through the dunes to the beach. Best swimming we've ever had with great waves! It's a fantastic location with a group fire pit, bear vault and pit toilet. No reservations are taken and in the summer the drive-in campgrounds fill up fast. I snowshoed there a couple years ago and really had a nice day of it. Pic attached...good hanging trees immediately past the bear vault closest to the lake. Note, when we met with the ranger to get our permits, they seemed confused about the hammock concept. They count a hammock as a tent, so we needed 2 sites for 6 people (2 tents and 2 hammocks). Best time to go is mid-week to avoid the crowd. If you're making the trip, might as well include a couple days at North or South Manitou Island!
