The WB BB also has that oh so cool foot box...I went from a GT to ENO and then to the cream of the crop WB. It "is" as good as everyone say it is.

~My therapist has told me that the first step to recovery is admitting my problem, Hello I'm a Hammockolic~
Currently I have a doubleNEST for this old bird. For over ten years it has been quite comfy. My 10 year old is sleeping in it down in my office as I type this.
I am looking to upgrade for more camping. I have tried out a Lefty BB at the Fall MAHHA. Thought I was in love. Then after reading about the DB with its overcover I want to try one of them. If anyone in the NoVa area has one, can we hook up so I can give it a look over?
I don't think I could go wrong with either one.

The 72 Roadrunner a fine bird to be sure. I had a 72 Charger.
Almost no comments on the Nite Owl or Lite Owl.
I'm going to guess about 150 nights? I used it about two and half to three years of hiking about 1,500 - 2,000 miles. I used it as a chair as well as a place to sleep. I weight about 190 to 200 lbs (although I think I was about 10 to 20 lbs less when I had it) and am about 5' 6".
Don't get me wrong - the WBBB is a good hammock, the shelf was especially nice to have. But, in my experience, hammocks in which you can only get in from one side tend to go bad sooner than hammocks which allow access from both sides. If I hadn't used it as a chair as much as I do, then maybe it would have lasted longer. I've also had the same problem with Mosquito hammocks.
Unfortunately, I got rid of it by taking it apart and using the ridge lines, etc. on other hammocks. The rest of it got thrown away. I did email you about it a couple years ago about improving the design somewhat, but you didn't like my ideas too much (not that I know anything about designing these things), nor were you interested in looking at it at the time. Sorry,
Which version did you have? I own a dbl 1.1 and I really enjoy it. I only have about 1/2 the usage on mine- with none of the symptoms you mentioned. I do prefer the dbl 1.1 for the comfort level.
I have laid in the several bridge hammocks, & multiple different gathered end hammocks...Nothing has impressed me enough to obsolete my BB. The closest was Papa Smurfs new lightweight rig (sorry I forgot the name). It has been said a thousand times...lay in as many hammocks as you can. Then opt for the one that works for you the best. Kind of like dating
